If you happen to be a truck owner, you recognize the importance and advantage of the cargo box of that pick up truck. You can carry just about everything from your treasured recliner to a load of timber. The only concern is that after a few seasons of use, the pickup bed bottom and sides will begin to demonstrate their age much more rapidly than the rest of the vehicle. Dings, scratches, and dents will sooner or later turn up... making the truck look much older than it truly is - and a lot more importantly - will lessen the value of the vehicle.
We had the same issue, a stunning pick up truck - right up until you dropped the tailgate. The pickup bed was nicked up pretty bad and it really took away the fantastic looks of the passenger truck.

There are a handful of solutions available to rectify that predicament... a spray-in pickup bed liner, a drop-in bed liner, or a total pickup bed liner product. All three possibilities have their advantages and drawbacks, but in this article I'm going to explain the benefits of the DualLiner cargo area protection system. The men and women at DualLiner have a document that illustrates the pro's & con's of all three styles of pickup bed liners... and can be visited at best truck bedliners .

The designers of DualLiner sent one of their pickup bed liner systems to us to use on a 2004 Dodge Ram pick up. The first thing we realised was how it was packaged and sent to the door. Everything you must have is in one relatively easy to handle container, and it was shipped right to the home. No planning appointments or lingering in line needed.

The pack consists of five pieces... a front cargo area wall liner, two side wall liners, a tailgate liner, and a heavy duty, 3/8" thick rubber bed mat.

Precise installation directions are provided with the package, and the step-by-step operation made it very straightforward. Total install time is substantially less than 30 minutes, and can be performed by just one man or woman. The only equipment required are a #40 and #27 Torx Driver; a ¼" drill bit, and drill.

The first step is to remove the four cargo handles within the Dodge Ram's pickup bed. We also swept out a couple of pieces of dust to make certain that no extra deterioration could occur to the bed. The front cargo area liner went on first, and just tucked over the top front rail of the bed. Next were the two side pieces... make sure the top side of the liner is placed under the bed rails. The front and side pieces are anchored together with four friction-fit tabs (commonly referred to as push-in automotive fasteners). We then reinstalled the four cargo grips, which in turn completely secured the side panels. The fact that the top of the side panels fit below the pickup bed rails gave the unit installation a very fresh and clean look.

The next action is to install the tailgate liner to the tailgate. Take off the manufacturer Torx screws that hold down the access panel. Place the liner on the tailgate... the pre-drilled openings in the liner match up correctly with the factory openings. Re-install the Torx screws to the tailgate. There are four additional pre-drilled holes in the liner, which are positioned near the base of the tailgate. This is where you will want to drill four ¼" holes in the tail gate. The pack contains a tube of rust inhibitor... a small dab in every newly drilled hole will circumvent rust. The four holes are then plugged with more push-in automotive fasteners.

The end phase in the assembly is to set the 3/8" thick rubber mat on the pickup bed. There are grooves in the bottom of the side panels to which the mat fits in for a fantastic completed look.

So here you go - a before & after shot of the vehicle bed... which one do you prefer?

Here are a few things to pay attention to if you are wondering about shopping for the DualLiner bed protection system:

· Life time warranty - DualLiner warranty

· Made in the USA.

· DualLiner is sold for $399.00. Spray-in liners are $700 and up. How about a drop-in? They're badly made and will most definitely break and lose color. Your pickup bed will get weakened with one of these liners.

· The rubber pad makes certain that next to nothing will slide around in the cargo area.

· Will not lose color or turn a "chalky" colour.

· Can be used with all kinds of Tonneau covers and/or cargo area rails.

In conclusion, we are extraordinarily happy with this item. The owner of the truck is quite delighted and claims this was more than likely the least difficult way to conceal an existing bed and make the truck look great again. On a side note, I in fact had a DualLiner on my 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck... when I traded the pick up truck three years later, the cargo area liner appeared as great as the first day it was installed. I highly advocate this to vehicle owners everywhere!
